Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Santos.
Hi Tatiana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am originally from Colombia. I moved to the USA in 1999. Well, my parents did. I was only 14 years old when they brought me with them. I studied interior design in Miami at the Art Institute. I was lucky to be able to get my internship at FENDI CASA, where I started working non-stop in the design field with a focus on kitchen design and sales. My vocation to the industry came apparent as I acquired positions for big name companies, other than from Fendi Casa, such as Kenzo Maison, Ligne rose, Snaidero, Ornare, Versace home and many more. Five years ago, I decided to open my own Company, AUSTER DESIGN LLC. Now well established here in South Florida as well as in my home country. Since the crisis of 2020, I got the opportunity to expand the scope of work beyond my specialty, wall coverings, and diversify now to do all different types of design. Currently, I am working on several new construction and development projects as well as full make overs and renovations. I clearly have now developed a multifaceted service to be able to anticipate all of my client’s needs. I am very grateful for where I am today, not only from a professional standpoint but also on a personal level as well. As I am the sole proprietor of the business, I continuously face new challenges which made me grow exponentially and made the end results so much more rewarding. I am a proud entrepreneurial Latina!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been an extremely challenging journey. I started the company together with my best Friend Juliana Diaz Salazar, but in 2020 for differences we couldn’t overcome, we decided to dissolve the partnership and remain friends. It was very difficult because I consider myself very well versed in the design area of the business but the accountability and organization skills are not my strong suit. So those areas have been the most challenging for me. Since my business is a one woman show, I do everything by myself which sometimes is a bit overwhelming but when I see the results, I get this amazing morale boost and I am on this natural high I can’t get enough off..
As you know, we’re big fans of Auster Design LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Established in 2017, Auster Design created a great way to visualize the build out or rebuild of your space. It is a full-service company that offers new construction, renovations, e-design, wall-coverings, wellness design, project management and design consultancy. From designing stage to completion of your commercial or residential project.
I believe in a cleaner, more eco-efficient design, not only because we now spend more of our time indoors but also because it manifests directly into healthier effect on our body with lots more positive energy, resulting in a healthier life style.
What matters most to you? Why?
Tricky question, on the personal note I am a very spiritually oriented. God, he is my everything and after that my Dog Bella, believe it or not, priority is for her to remain in good health. On the Business side, what matters most is to be able to continue to build and increase the level trust with my clients. The industry I am in, it’s really (I mean really) hard to find a reliable contractor and people. I think that is the most important thing that differentiates me from the rest, I always deliver on the promised day at the the promised time. This will continue to translate to grow and expand an even more successful track record than what I have build over the years thus far.
